Hi! My name is Angelique, and I am 21 years old. I am a current student of the University of Alabama, intending to receive my BFA in Studio Art with a Concentration in Painting and Digital Media in 2028. I currently strive to create art that ties to my African American and Haitian background.

Memory plays such a large part in how people connect. Everyone’s experience is different, and life is ever-changing. Documentation of experiences helps immortalize them and preserve the memories. It’s my goal to highlight Haiti’s history and evolution. The island that my grandmother saw as a child has evolved and changed. The island my mother saw as a child has evolved since then, and the island I experienced is the same. To show its rich background and immortalize these memories so I can pass them down to later generations, to make sure that my family’s story and connection to the island stay strong.
